Simply Gratitude

We’ve made it Thanksgiving 2020 and I couldn’t be more happier and grateful just to see another day this year. As energetically draining this year has been for everyone it’s important for us to keep going and to not sit and dwell on things that are beyond our control.

Pandemic Travel Edit Vol. #1 - Tulum

With the world pretty much on lockdown, and only a few countries accessible to Americans for leisure travel, my bf Marius and I decided to make our way to Mexico and visit the towns of Tulum and Riviera Maya. At the very beginning of the Pandemic when hotels started to close their doors to guests, we were supposed to travel to Europe. Unfortunately our plans changed. So we started researching places and countries to visit to not only celebrate my 30th birthday, but to also enjoy some time off the grid.  We split our trip between two towns and spent two nights in Tulum and two nights in Riviera Maya.

Let's talk SKIN!

Recently I have been getting more and more into the world of skincare. I mean after all, it is a multibillion dollar industry. As mentioned in my previous post, I am turning Flirty-Thirty this year and now is the the time to make sure that I am practicing good skin-care habits along with a  daily skin-care routine. Over the years, I've learned so much about my skin. I have oily skin which has a pro and a couple of cons.

Pros of Oily Skin
  • Because your skin is constantly producing oil, this keeps your face from drying out which will cause you less likely to cause wrinkles
Cons of Oily Skin
  • Acne. Acne. Acne. Since your oil glands are over-producing oils, your pores could become clogged which leads to acne, hyperpigmentation (acne scarring) and more
  • You'll walk around looking like a glowstick (shiny, especially in the summer months)
If you have oily skin, I recommend looking for products that are Oil free, Salicylic Acid, Vitamin C, AHA's and BHA's, Niacinamide and Fragrance Fee. Now it may be hard and very expensive to find really good products that contains all of those ingredients, however I decided to share a few of my favorite products that I am currently using to help me combat acne and stay oil-free this summer.

First up, if you are in the market for a really great cleanser I recommend Murad's Acne Control Cleanser

Murad  $12

Murad cleanser is great at control excess oil buildup and is clarifying without drying out your face too much. Its my holy grail cleanser which I will always recommend to anyone suffering with oily-skin and acne.

Next up, are two of my favorite Oil-free Moisturizers. Moisturizers are a great way to keep your face hydrated so that your natural face oils don't start overproducing.

           .
              Target $16.99                    Origins   $30

To help with acne scarring or any hyperpigmentation, here are a few products that I recommend:

 Sephora $49       Hanalei $4          Olehenriksen $16

Lastly, it's important to look in your moisture and all your skincare efforts by applying just a little oil to seal everything in. The face oil that I am currently using at the moment is Rose-Hip oil by Fourth Ray Beauty. I found it at ULTA for only $10

*Disclaimer, I am not and do not intend to be a professional skin-care specialist. You may want to consult with a skin-care professional to determine the best products suitable for your skin type.

....it's a Journey

"Life is not a destination, it’s a Journey" ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hello and welcome to my blog  “Life is a Journey”.  My name is Natalea, but I also go by “Nat" or "Nata” for short. I am extremely excited to be starting my blog. This year, I’ll be turning the big "Three-Zero" in September, and there has been so much that I've accomplished in my 29 years of life, that I felt the need to blog the next decade of my life. This year alone has been a major shift in my life ~ on top of the current Pandemic and civil unrest across the nation, I recently quit my job as a Travel Agent and made a huge career change to become an Accountant (basically what I’m in school for).  I still have a major passion for travel,  I love travel, although international travel is still very new to me, and I look forward to sharing my adventures both in the United States and abroad.

The title of my blog was inspired by one of my favorite quotes. Funny story, about 4-5 years ago, I spoke with a Tarot reader on  Keen, as I was going through one of the hardest times in my life, she said something that stuck out to me, she told to remember that “life was not a destination, it was a journey" and ever since she told me that, it stuck with me, I loved the quote so much that I even put it in my Instagram bio where its been since. Life is indeed a journey and I want to bring you all along with me into the next chapter of my life. My life has so many new beginnings and I am thrilled to finally be able to put this project out into the Universe to make it happen. I hope you enjoy this blog as much as the content that I plan to bring. Until my next post, thank you for your current support and let embark on this journey together.
